TRANSCRIPTOR’S Heritage range of turntables are now between fifty to sixty years old, and even though they were designed for minimal upkeep, there comes a point when the belts need replacing. We have genuine belts for the following turntables;
- Reference (1963 – 1977)
- Hydraulic Reference (1964 – 1977) Also fits the licensed ‘J A Michell Eng Ltd.’ version
- Saturn (1968 – 1973)
- Round (1975)
- Skeleton (1973 – 1977)
- Transcriber (1977 -1981)
keep you turntable in top working order, and replace your old drive belt with one that has recently been produced; so providing the correct tension and grip and avoids the belt slipping.
If your old belt has been unchecked for a period of time, you may find that it has disintegrated or has left a black gooey residue. Care should be taken when removing these old belts so as not to cover sensitive parts of the drive or bearings in any residue or debris. If the black residue has stuck to critical parts this can normally be wiped away with Isopropyl Alcohol

Transcriptors was founded in 1960 by the late engineer/designer David Gammon. Many will be familiar with our turntables, which have been widely used in numerous television commercials and in films, including the classic A Clockwork Orange (1972) and The Look Of Love (2013) both that featured his classic 1964 HYDRAULIC REFERENCE turntable. The SKELETON turntable was also used in the X-Men – First Class (2011) and Creepshow (1982).
